Overview

Since our inception in 1992, Design Response has been delivering on our goal of improving environments for nonprofit agencies and schools that serve the most needy in our community. We have completed more than 200 projects for agencies serving the poor, homeless, developmentally disabled, and families and children in crisis throughout Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties. We've helped make their facilities safe, functional, well designed and, most of all, welcoming.

Operating on shoestring budgets and in cramped quarters, nonprofit agencies in our community frequently struggle to ensure continuity of client services. Rarely is spending time or money on critical facility improvements a priority. By leveraging the volunteer time and talent of the design industry, and combining that with donations of high quality furniture and materials and our own professional project management, Design Response fills this need and adds value at a fraction of market cost.

We also know that an individual’s sense of self is deeply affected by the space that surrounds them. And when that individual is in crisis, the effect can be even more profound – affecting their dignity, their self-worth, and their ability to accept help. Design Response believes that an agency’s physical surroundings have a profound impact on its ability to achieve its mission and impact the lives of the people it serves.

Design Response is a 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation.
